I'm a big dreamer making my mark and trying to make the world a better place! This is my way of sharing my journey, and in doing so I hope to inspire as many souls as I can to live their passion!

Talking, singing, yelling. Why is so hard to use our voice?
Well it seems easier to say nothing and avoid than to deal with the response. Additionally, when we speak up and say something that’s emotionally difficult we open ourselves to judgment and we feel vulnerable out in the open. That’s why we love amazing artists, because we feel their pain and their joy. They are putting it all out there and that’s no easy feat. Every time I’ve seen an artist fully commit to what they are doing, I've never once said, “well, that sucked!” Because just getting out there and doing something takes guts! And I respect that!

It was hard for me to start vocalizing. Growing up with a single mother who had been mentally and physically abused had repercussions on me that I didn’t even realize until a few years back. When I got angry with someone I would turn away and not confront them. When I wanted to learn how to sing I had the hardest time performing in front of anyone, even my vocal coach! It’s crazy how much I didn’t vocalize, even when I thought I was. So, I committed to growing my singing voice.

I trained for an hour a day everyday. Plus, an additional hour with my vocal coach 2-3 times a week.  And after months of hard work I finally made notable progress and had reached a point that I was happy enough with to start recording the album. During this process I learned so much about my voice.  Not my singing voice, but my inner voice.  I learned how important it is to breathe properly and in controlling your breath you gain control of your voice.  And as I gained control of my voice I gained control of my ability to express myself.

Needless to say I now enjoy my vocal lessons. I take the time to confront an issue and find a resolution.  How else is someone going to know what I think or how I feel if I never say it? Expression isn’t easy for all of us, but it can be.  It may take a little time and effort, but the results are worth it!

We should all enjoy being able to express ourselves through whatever makes us happy. Our time here is so short. Don’t allow your own self-doubt, fears and hang ups to stand in the way.  Take charge, express yourself! If your not doing what you love start today. Even if it’s just writing down what you want, take that first step and feel your soul light up with happiness!

Hugs and Love,
Moni-k:)

So inspired! I love you, girl, and I couldn't agree more. In a time where technology replaces our voices so often, we need to squash our fears and make ourselves heard. So proud of you for recognizing this in yourself and for finding your way. :)
